About the Role

Latham & Watkins' Milan office is seeking a law student or recent law graduate with a strong interest in pursuing a professional career in an international legal environment, for a placement as a paid intern or through an early-stage traineeship (praticantato) within the Banking & Finance department. The Finance department advises leading financial institutions, investment funds, financial sponsors, and Italian and international industrial groups on domestic and cross-border financing transactions. The team advises on a wide range of transactions, including acquisition finance, leveraged finance, corporate lending, real estate finance, project finance, debt restructuring, and other structured finance transactions, regularly working on some of the most complex and significant transactions in the market.

Working alongside a tutor and a team of highly qualified professionals, the candidate will be actively involved in the department's core activities, including:

- Supporting legal research activities and gathering and analyzing the documentation needed to prepare memoranda and legal opinions on banking and finance matters;
- Assisting in the drafting and review of contractual and financing documentation in both Italian and English;
- Supporting the team's professionals in managing client needs and coordinating the various stages of financing transactions;
- Participating in legal due diligence activities;
- Assisting with activities related to domestic and cross-border transactions, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and professionals from different jurisdictions.
The ideal candidate has an excellent academic record, a strong command of English, and a keen interest in developing their career in an international environment. Any study or internship experience abroad will be considered a plus. The profile is rounded out by strong interpersonal and communication skills, intellectual curiosity, and an aptitude for working in a dynamic, collaborative, and highly qualified environment.

Il team presta consulenza su un’ampia gamma di operazioni, tra cui acquisition finance, leveraged finance, corporate lending, real estate finance, project finance, debt restructuring e altre operazioni di finanza strutturata, lavorando regolarmente su alcune delle transazioni più complesse e significative del mercato.

In affiancamento al tutor e a un team di professionisti altamente qualificati, la risorsa sarà coinvolta attivamente nelle principali attività del dipartimento, tra cui:

- Supporto nelle attività di ricerca giuridica e nella raccolta e analisi della documentazione necessaria alla predisposizione di memorandum e pareri legali in materia bancaria e finanziaria;

- Assistenza nelle attività connesse a operazioni nazionali e cross-border, collaborando con team multidisciplinari e professionisti di diverse giurisdizioni.
